Description: Improve communication with users. A number of different approaches will be tried and successful approaches will continue into working practice.

Deliverables:

  • Improving awareness of available services
    • Producing more posters
    • Increase frequency of newsletter
    • Add "service promotion" to project signoff
    • Open up technical talks to all Informatics staff/pgs
  • Improve communication of service availability
    • Improved display of core services' availability (eg traffic lights status) - preferably linked to Nagios monitoring
    • Improve communication of when services are scheduled to be unavailable (eg IS service alerts)
  • Restructured and updated documentation
  • Increased exposure of COs to end users
    • "Join the COs for coffee"
    • CO clinic
    • open up technical talks (as above)
    • Introduce workshops on useful subjects (such as AFS ACLs, kerberos etc)

communication between computing staff and other staff needs to be improved.
