Description:
The School's existing Nagios framework was developed by Simon Wilkinson (see Project 22) and has now been in use for a couple of years.
The system needs to be ported to the v3 series of Nagios running on SL6_64 platform.
Deliverables:
- An operational Nagios v3 system
- Final project report
Why:

Case statement:
We currently use Nagios v2.12, which is the last release in the v2 series. This is now old technology, and we need to upgrade to the v3 series - which, in any case, promises performance improvements. The transition to SL6_64 is an appropriate time to do this.

Timescales: Upgrading the underlying nagios system could take 4 weeks, including testing.

- Familiarisation with existing code base

- Generally 'tidy up' the DICE Nagios configuration (in particular, the many header files now involved) as appropriate.
