Deploy DIR machine (with EPCC)
Description: Informatics and EPCC are jointly purchasing a machine to support large scale Data Intensive Research (DIR). The machine will also be a research subject in itself, enabling research into large scale, low power, data-centric computation.
The DIR machine will consist of at least 120 atom based compute nodes
with local SSDs. The expectation is that these compute nodes will be managed
using LCFG, to reduce setup and ongoing management costs.
This project will deploy the DIR machine, jointly with EPCC.
