What:
Description: Improve communication with users. A number of different approaches will be tried and successful approaches will continue into working practice.
Deliverables:
- Improving awareness of available services
- Producing more posters
- Increase frequency of newsletter
- Add "service promotion" to project signoff
- Open up technical talks to all Informatics staff/pgs
- Improve communication of service availability
- Improved display of core services' availability (eg traffic lights status) - preferably linked to Nagios monitoring
- Improve communication of when services are scheduled to be unavailable (eg IS service alerts)
- Restructured and updated documentation
- Increased exposure of COs to end users
- "Join the COs for coffee"
- CO clinic
- open up technical talks (as above)
- Introduce workshops on useful subjects (such as AFS ACLs, kerberos etc)
Why:

Case statement: The Computing Users Forum (in November 2008) clearly highlighted that
communication between computing staff and other staff needs to be improved.
